The bandana has quickly become one of the ubiquitous accessories of the season. A creative twist on this trend? Use a men's pocket square. Whenever I'm browsing for gifts for my husband at Hermes, the lovely sales associates remind me that their men's pocket squares can also be worn as small women's scarves. It is a chic way to add a little pop of color and interest to your outfit. They are also the perfect size to tie onto your handbag. Something to consider the next time you're out shopping for your husband!
The part of summer has come where it is just too hot to wear jeans, especially in South Florida. I know I am not the only one who finds it difficult to find nice shorts that can take you from day to night . To be clear, I am not referring to cut-off denim! I was so happy when I spotted these adorable paper-bag waist shorts at Intermix. They are perfect for running around with the kids during the day and polished enough for a casual dinner out with friends. They would even work with high heel sandals or wedges for a more dressed up look. For those who are looking, here are a few other styles that also fit the bill: Alexis high-waist lace shorts, Frame le paperbag shorts, ALC loop-detail shorts, Rag & Bone lace-up denim shorts, and Club Monaco scalloped hem shorts. xo
There is nothing more impactful than the timeless combination of black and white. A perfect palette for transitioning from summer into pre-fall, we've compiled an edit of our favorite styles of the season. From this so chic ivory Alexis off-the-shoulder romper with black satin piping to the most sleek everyday Saint Laurent Shopping Tote and the statement-making sunnies: Illesteva Leonard II in black/white camo, these styles are sure to make a graphic statement. xo
What I love about this top is that it combines two of the things I cannot get enough of right now - stripes and an off-the-shoulder silhouette. It is surprisingly versatile - can be worn with the buttons down the front or back, with hem tied in a knot or worn as a longer tunic, and the sleeves can be cuffed up or down. Here, I wore it knotted with white jeans and kept my accessories simple - flat leather sandals and a straw tote for a casual, beachy look.
It is no secret that I can't get enough of the off-the-shoulder silhouette this season and this top has been in serious rotation in my wardrobe lately. The simplicity of this particular style lends itself to so many different looks, working equally well with jeans or tucked into a high-waisted skirt or shorts. Mine is by Milly but I LOVE these similar versions as well: Alexis, Style Mafia, Free People, Caroline Constas, and Chelsea28.
Truly one of the most classic and versatile pieces you can add to your summer wardrobe, the white dress is an absolute essential. Over the years I have amassed quite a collection, ranging from long and flowing to fitted crocheted styles, intricate lace and crisp button-up shirt dresses; one can never have too many. When I spotted this lightweight cotton Theory dress, I was sold. An understated sheath from the front with a modern cutout detail finished with a bow in the back, this style will be a wardrobe staple for years to come. When it comes to accessorizing, the options are endless. I spent the Fourth of July weekend in Islamorada, Florida and went with a casual island-inspired look for evening - turquoise silk tassel earrings, white chain-trim flat sandals and my monogrammed island bag from Palm Beach-based designer, Amanda Lindroth. How do you accessorize your summer whites?
With Fourth of July quickly approaching, it is time to start thinking about what to pack for the festive weekend. Being the good patriots that we are, we love an excuse to work a little red, white and blue into our holiday wardrobes. There are so many fun options right now and we are especially loving the ethnic embroidery that is popping up on everything from tunics to tote bags. It is also an opportune time to add a little Americana with your accessories, including footwear - how adorable are these red pom pom espadrilles? If all-white is more your thing, at the very least, add a pop of color with a classic red nail or lip. Bonus - everyone is having summer sales right now so it is the perfect time to stock up on those end-of-summer essentials!
Who doesn't love stripes? This Milly dress puts a modern spin on the traditional nautical stripes we've seen over and over again, yet is still classic enough to become a wardrobe mainstay.
Prompted by my recent move and inspired by The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up, I have made serious strides in streamlining my wardrobe. So when it comes to buying a new piece, versatility is key. What I love about this dress is how it can be worn to so many different occasions - a nice day of shopping, a bridal shower, an evening out or a summer barbecue. The pattern and silhouette are simple enough that you can dress it up or down, depending on the accessories.
Nothing quite says "summer" like white. In fact, lately, it is all we have been wanting to wear. Whether you gravitate towards minimalism or the bohemian luxe vibe, white effortlessly lends itself to both overarching movements. Go sleek and sophisticated with clean lines and modern accessories or have fun with textures and embellishment (lace, fringe, jacquard, tassels). Lastly, don't be afraid to mix shades of white and ivory!
One of the looks we are really into this season is the off-the-shoulder dress. It is such a simple style that flatters every body type and the ruffle flounce offers a flirty, fun look that can be dressed down for day or up for night.
Some of our favorites: this gorgeous cranberry Alice & Olivia would be perfect for a late summer or fall wedding. We also love this pretty eyelet version by Rebecca Minkoff - a quintessential white dress to add to your summer collection. This ivory style by Cynthia Rowley is equal parts sweet and sophisticated. Lastly, we adore this streamlined, sexy style by The Row - a modern twist on the LBD.
It seems the off-the-shoulder trend has staying power for another season because we are already seeing looks pop up for fall from designers such as Lela Rose, Valentino and Zac Posen. xo, Courtney
When it comes to summer evening attire, it doesn't get any simpler than a long breezy maxi dress. I live in white in the warmer months, and love anything with tassels so when I stumbled upon this dress, I could not resist. More importantly, it accommodates the growing baby bump.
On this particular evening, we were off to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Beaver Creek, Beano's Cabin. Known for its idyllic setting and incredible mountain-inspired prix fixe menu, Beano's is a special place. I grew up taking the sleigh ride through the snow (and singing Christmas carols along the way) in the winter and my husband and I held our wedding rehearsal dinner there three years ago. We were excited to take our son for the first time and he absolutely loved the ride up through the mountains - seeing horses and deer along the way. We can't wait to go back this winter! xo, Courtney
For a wedding calling for cocktail attire, one can never go wrong with a little black dress. We love this super feminine style by Halston Heritage - the structured full skirt and notched neckline add just enough flair to a classic LBD. Another option for a fun, modern twist on cocktail attire this summer is the crop top and full midi skirt combination (I absolutely adore this look - if only I weren't pregnant!). We love Alice + Olivia's simple nude crop top with the ethereal silver lamé skirt. Both looks can be accessorized with sparkly earrings, embroidered clutches and single-sole strappy sandals.
Summer wedding season is officially in full swing. In the upcoming weeks we will be posting edits on what to wear for the most common dress codes for summer weddings - from beach to cocktail and black tie - so keep checking back!
For outdoor weddings, specifically on the beach, we love long breezy gowns in bright colors and prints. Although we are avid wearers of high heels, one must be mindful of practical footwear. This means pretty flat sandals (jeweled is always a chic option) or wedges. If the reception moves inside after the ceremony, you can always change into a pair of backup heels. For clutches, we like to invest in neutral styles that can be worn over and over again. As for jewelry, have a little fun!
If you're like one of us and jetting off to the sun this Christmas, here are a few packing essentials and some guidelines to follow. Packing needn't be difficult. Put together outfits before packing and edit, edit, edit so as not to overpack. Pack key pieces that can go from day to night and a few great accessories that can dress up an outfit in the evening. Our warm weather musts : a bathing suit and cover up, flip flops, sunglasses, a great bag that can be used day and night, white jeans, a few tops and a dress that can easily transport itself from beach to dinner.
9. One does not always need a matching bathing suit cover up, but this Eres pareo is too good to pass up. We love the brushstroke pattern and to get your money's worth, it can double as a scarf! $285 Net-a-Porter
11. The Australians know how to work with the sun and Zimmermann has perfected it. This hat embodies everything one needs in a sun hat; style, shape, color, trim and fit! How can one resist? $490 Zimmermann
